Tammy King joined the Rockledge Police Department team on January 21, 2014 as the Police Department’s Accreditation Coordinator. Tammy is a Florida native, having lived the majority of her life in Brevard County. She has 25 years of law enforcement background from a civilian viewpoint. Her experience includes 911 Public Safety Communications & Training Officer, Fingerprint Technician (previously recognized by local courts as a Fingerprint Expert), and Instructor for “Fingerprint Classification.” Ms. King also has experience with logistics of specialized law enforcement equipment and budget preparation. Ms. King’s resume also includes Police Training Coordinator & Accreditation Manager, where she has spent her last four years assisting with a myriad of police training related duties to include ATMS Operator, Hosted Training Coordinator, and assisting the Titusville Police Department to attain their first re-accreditation status. Ms. King, realizing her true passion was in law enforcement professionalism, ethics, and accreditation, went on to attain her training certification as a Commission of Florida Accreditation Assessor.
Ms. King has been recognized for her professional accomplishments by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Brevard County Criminal Justice Center, the National Program “Weed and Seed”, and the Titusville Police Department. Ms. King’s passion is in accreditation. She believes in and truly enjoys assisting with the CFA process by reaching out to others in the law enforcement community and helping teach how accreditation benefits law enforcement and their communities as a whole. By understanding and applying the CFA standards to an agency, it helps to reduce vicarious liability and the cost associated with these types of incidents, as well as identifying needed equipment and training for officers to properly conduct their duties and safely serve the community they work in. Realizing her civilian law enforcement experience is an asset to assist with assessments and agencies desiring to be accredited, she decided to dedicate the remainder of her career to continuing her education at Barry University in Public Administration and follow her heart and passion in accreditation by joining the City of Rockledge Police Department team, where she coordinated the Police Department’s initial accreditation and will see to fruition several of their future re-accreditations.
