Throughout the past several years, the Barnes Boulevard Sub-District has
enjoyed the majority of new development. Although this development is
highly desirable for the City and the Redevelopment District, it has led
to an increased strain on current infrastructure.
As such, planning, right-of-way acquisition, design, and permitting are
nearing completion on a Brevard County road-widening project that will
ultimately expand Barnes Blvd. from to lanes to four lanes from Fiske Blvd. to
just east of Murrell Rd. Construction is anticipated to begin in the second quarter of 2014 and to last for approximately 18 months.
The City of Rockledge has invested
approximately $2 million in the project.
