Officer Donald “OP” Pirson has been the only School Resource Officer ever assigned to Rockledge High School. His first year at Rockledge High was 1998. Prior to that, he was in charge of the Property and Evidence Section at Rockledge Police Department for 2 years.  He worked in the Road Patrol Unit for 10 years prior to that.  Office Pirson started as a Reserve Officer in 1984 before going full time in 1985.
 

While serving as SRO, Officer Pirson has coached football, baseball, girls' golf, and boys' lacrosse. He had the privilege of being a member of Coach Chuck Wood’s staff when Rockledge High School won back to back State Championships in football in 2001 and 2002.  

Officer Pirson attended the first ever nighttime Police Academy, which was held at Brevard Community College. He graduated December of 1983. He has also completed over 200 hours of crime scene procedures and evidence collection training through The Florida Department of Law Enforcement. He is certified by The FBI in fingerprint classification and latent print identification and comparison.  Pirson has been trained as a School Resource Officer through the State of Florida Attorney General’s Office.

Officer Pirson is recognized by the 18th Judicial Circuit as an expert on latent fingerprint comparison and identification. He has the recognition of School Resource Officer Practitioner from the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Florida.
