ALL ACCESSORY BUILDINGS & STRUCTURES REQUIRE A BUILDING PERMIT
The maximum allowable size of a detached accessory building in any residential zoning district of the City shall depend upon the lot size of the property on which the principal building or structure is located, as follows:

When an accessory building is attached to a principal structure by a breezeway, roofed passage or otherwise, it shall comply with the dimensional requirements of the principal building.
A detached accessory structure shall not be closer than 71/2 feet from the property line, nor closer than 6 feet from any other building on the same lot.
No detached accessory building shall be located on the front half of the lot, or forward of the front building line of the principal building.
No accessory building may exceed 12 feet in height, nor occupy more than 35% of the required yard.
Portable storage sheds, on movable bases, 100 sq. ft. or less in size may be installed not less than 6 inches from the property line, nor closer than ten (10) feet to a principal building on an adjoining lot.

- Completed Permit Application
- Recorded Notice of Commencement if over $2,500.00
- Survey/Site Plan showing location of shed
- Construction drawings (if over 200 sq. ft. engineered drawings are required)
*Maximum building area is the aggregate total of all accessory structures on the lot. No single accessory structure shall exceed 2500 square feet in area, unless on a parcel of 50 acres or more.”
