The nature of the fire and emergency services work requires personnel to constantly train for the various events that we may be called to respond to. Some of the training is very basic in nature while much of it is more complex
and skilled. The fire and emergency services are the first responders to incidents of all types, natural or manufactured and have an ever-increasing role as the nation’s first line of defense as its first responders.
With this in mind, the department has renewed our plans for the development of our training center. The majority of this work has been accomplished by fire personnel and through community donations of materials.
At this time, we have designed an area to provide us with the opportunity to practice various scenarios utilizing basic skills and to develop skills that are more advanced. Props on site include:
- Three story training tower (Ladder, hose and rescue work)
- 20 x 40 building with:
- Three level self-contained breathing apparatus maze (20x20)
- Medium search and rescue collapse simulator (20x20)
- Confined Space rescue simulator
- Ventilation Simulator
- Vehicle Extrication pad LP Gas system with
- Safety relief valve fire simulator
- Vapor and liquid pipe fire risers with valves
- Flammable liquid fire pit (LP supplied with water)
Our future goal is to construct a burn building to provide us with the opportunity to simulate actual fire fighting conditions under a controlled environment. This will provide the opportunity to feel the heat, work in the smoke and actually extinguish fires under controlled conditions.
