Code Enforcement

Code Enforcement Officers, assigned to field inspection, and clerical staff providing administrative duties, staff the Code Enforcement Section. All are responsible to administer the various codes and ordinances adopted by the City Council designed to provide clean, safe and attractive neighborhoods.

The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for investigating complaints of violations or by initiating investigations observed while in the field. Complaints are generally handled within two to five working days of receipt. Emergency situations, which may be a safety threat to the community, are handled immediately. Investigations where a violation is present will result in one or all of the following: a courtesy notice to the occupant, a written Notice of Violation, or possible further action by the Code Enforcement Board.   >

The most important action the property owner can take is to comply with the violation within the period required by Code. Our primary goal is voluntary compliance, which saves both time and money for all parties involved.
