In continuing to make the city of Rockledge a great place to stay, the Rockledge Police Departments' Community Relations Unit is taking a proactive approach to reduce crime to our business community by establishing a Business Watch program.
The Business Watch program is patterned after the highly successful Neighborhood Watch Program. Its purpose is to increase communication and awareness of crime in the business community. Through Business Watch programs, you will be making crimes against yourself and your fellow business neighbors as difficult as possible. Crimes will be deterred by:
- Promoting communication and understanding between law enforcement and the business community
- Teaching merchants to crime-proof their own properties and to watch over neighboring businesses and report any suspicious activity to authorities
- Encouraging cooperation between neighboring merchants
- Develop a telephone tree system for quick dissemination of information regarding criminal activity in the area
- Encouraging the development of signals to activate in adjacent businesses when someone needs help
