As Hurricane Milton makes its way closer to our area, the Rockledge Public Safety Department would like to remind residents of a few key safety points for during and after the storm:
1. Do not travel the roads during the storm, as travel will become less and less safe as conditions deteriorate.
2. If traffic lights are out or flashing, treat them as 4-way stops.
3. Be wary of flooding. Do not drive through flooded areas, as even a few inches of water is enough to affect a vehicle's operations. Turn around and find an alternate route.
4. Watch for downed power lines, and treat any power line as live. If you have any concerns about downed power lines, contact the Public Safety Department.
5. Do not lift/open manhole covers!
