[ARCHIVED] Hurricane Milton Update #5

Storm Info

OFFICE CLOSURES
Due to Hurricane Milton, City offices will close for non-essential personnel on Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th.

The City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be activated at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9th and will remain active for the duration of the storm.

TRASH/RECYCLING
Crews will be running routes for the remainder of Tuesday servicing their regular Tuesday pickup routes. We have additional claw trucks traveling throughout the City picking up yard debris. If your yard debris has not been picked up by end-of-business Tuesday, please bring in and secure loose debris, as pieces could become dangerous projectiles in the high winds.

There will be NO trash/recycling/yard waste collection on Wednesday, October 9th, Thursday, October 10th, or Friday, October 11th. Regular pickups will resume on Monday, October 14th. Special pickups have been delayed until further notice.

BUILDING PERMITS
There will be NO building permit inspections on Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th. Inspections will tentatively resume on Friday, October 11th until 3:00 p.m. No remote/virtual inspections will be conducted.

PUBLIC SAFETY
Public Safety personnel will remain on duty throughout the storm; however, since high winds may hinder responses, we ask that you remain in your homes and DO NOT travel the roads during the storm!

RECLAIMED WATER
The reclaimed water system will be shut off until further notice.

Updates on City services, office openings, and storm information will be provided via the City website, as well as on Facebook, X, and Nextdoor. Stay safe, Rockledge!
