Garbage & Recycling

Household garbage consists of all kitchen waste, other household waste, and small miscellaneous garbage that fits inside of your trash receptacle.

Unauthorized dumping into commercial dumpsters is illegal; if caught, you can be fined $500 or placed in jail for 60 days. Simply call if you need a special pickup.

Wheeled Garbage Container

The wheeled garbage container, the “HOBO,” is to be used only for household garbage. Your HOBO must be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day and removed from curb by 7:00 p.m. the same day.

Please help to maintain the life and cleanliness of your HOBO by sanitizing and rinsing it out frequently. If your HOBO should need repair, please call the Sanitation Division during hours of operation at 321-221-7540.

Hazardous Materials

Hazardous waste is defined as any substance that is corrosive, reactive, flammable, or toxic. These chemicals pose a threat to people and our environment. When disposed improperly, they injure and/or pollute. Please call the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at (321) 633-2043 if you have any of the following materials to dispose of:

  • Hazardous / biohazardous wastes (chemicals, pool chemicals, etc.)
  • Paint
  • Propane
  • Tires
  • Used oils
