The 2020 Census Needs YOU!

The 2020 Census is easy, and the questions are simple. In fact, 2020 marks the first time that respondents can complete the Census questionnaire online. No computer, no problem! You can also reply by phone, or by U.S. mail.

Responses to these questions provide a snapshot of the nation, and the results can have an impact on how much federal funding your state and community receive, how many representatives your state elects to Congress, and how your community plans for the future with regard to schools, roads, hospitals and social service agencies.

You can expect to receive an invitation to respond to the Census via postcard in the middle of March, with reminders to follow later that month. In April, if your responses have not been received, Census takers will begin to visit households in order to gather information.

Recognized nationwide, April 1 is Census Day, a key reference date for the 2020 Census. When completing the Census, you will include everyone living in your home on April 1, 2020. In addition, Census Day will be celebrated with events across the country, so stay tuned for events planned in our area!

All responses are confidential and are not shared with other government agencies. By law, your answers to Census questions cannot be utilized against you and are only used for the purpose of calculating statistics.

Because the Census dictates the distribution of more than $675 billion in federal funding to states and communities, your participation is essential!
